BRIDGEPORT

Bridgeport Motor Truck Co.
Morrisey Motor Car Co.
Bridgeport, Connecticut (1920-1927)

This is a Bridgeport nameplate (1920-c1925)    mjs
Size: 240mm wide 42mm high   MM: None

The Morrisey Motor Car Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut did not manufacture any motor cars but did set up the Bridgeport Motor Truck Company in 1920 to build motor trucks. The initial Bridgeport trucks were 4-1/2-ton and 6-ton models powered by Hercules engines. From 1923, the following lighter models were offered, the 1-1/2-ton Model A, 2-1/2-ton Model B and the 4-ton Model C all using Buda engines.

The 1920's was a difficult time for truck manufacturers and small truck companies could not compete with the larger manufacturers. It is likely that sales of Bridgeport trucks were very low. After 1925, the only product of the Bridgeport Motor Truck Company was a 30-seat bus. It was all over for the Bridgeport by 1927.

Emblem

The only Bridgeport truck emblem I have seen is the painted cast metal Bridgeport nameplate shown above at the top of this post.  This Bridgeport nameplate may have been used as a radiator emblem for heavy duty models as well as used as a hood side nameplate but I cannot confirm this. This Bridgeport emblem/nameplate is extremely rare.

If you have other information about Bridgeport motor trucks or emblems, please let me know, in order to update this post.
