Alvin O. Lombard built his first steam powered half-track vehicle in 1901. It resembled a steam railroad locomotive with tracks at the rear and skids at the front and was designed for use as a log hauler in the logging industry. The first Lombard log hauler was sold in 1903.
The first Lombard gasoline powered log hauler appeared in 1909 and, by 1917, all Lombard truck tractors were gasoline powered. Later Lombard vehicles also had wheels at the front instead of skids and some could be interchanged for use in different weather and road conditions. Lombard log haulers were able to pull loads of up to 60 tons across rough terrain.
Lombard trucks were also used to haul other heavy loads, including heavy artillery. Over 100 Lombard vehicles were sold to the Russian army in 1916 to haul artillery and supply trains. A diesel powered Lombard log hauler was built in 1934 but this was the final Lombard log hauler, as these were replaced by new heavy off road trucks.
Emblems

There are several original period photos of Lombard vehicles but few clearly show an emblem, see following example:

Locomotive style steam powered log haulers would have shown the Lombard name on the front of the boiler, see surviving example below:

These painted tin "Lombard Auto Type Tractor" signs were used from about 1924 and on later machines with factory built cabs.
The following photo shows a surviving 1928 Lombard dump truck with the "Lombard Auto Type Tractor" nameplate in the form of a decal displayed on the radiator cover-guard:

Original cast metal Lombard radiator emblems and side nameplates are extremely rare.
The same Lombard radiator emblem is seen on a restored surviving Lombard 10-ton auto tractor from 1934, see below:

Some earlier Lombard vehicles had more conventional radiator shells, see surviving 1919 example shown below:

I have been reliably informed that Lombard gasoline powered vehicles using this early style of radiator and engine hood did not carry a radiator emblem or a hood side nameplate. The only place where the Lombard name was shown was on a painted brass maker's plate mounted on the dash panel showing the model designation and serial number.
The following combined dash mounted Lombard nameplate/patent plate is an unused and possibly reproduction example. Original Lombard nameplate/patent plates would be extremely rare.

The following painted metal Lombard nameplate has been found but it has never been seen on a Lombard Auto-Tractor Truck:

If you can identify this Lombard nameplate, please let me know, in order to update this post.
