The Otto Armleder Company was a long established wagon building company and began building four-cylinder conventional assembled trucks in 1910. The first Armleder trucks ranged from 3/4-ton to 1-1/2 ton capacity, which was increased to 2-ton and 3-1/2 ton capacity by 1917 when chain drive was replaced by worm drive. A six-cylinder model line was also available in 1927

In October 1928, Armleder became a division of the LeBlond-Schacht Truck Company (see Schacht) and the two makes were gradually merged. The Armleder name was discontinued in 1936.

Emblems

The first light duty Armleder trucks had a brass radiator and displayed the "Armleder" name on a wide oval shaped brass script mounted on the radiator core, see example shown below in a 1914 hotel bus photo. Original brass Armleder radiator scripts are very rare.

By 1917, heavy duty Armleder trucks had a cast radiator tank top and carried a wide oval shaped radiator emblem, see truck advertisement illustration shown below. However, I cannot confirm if this emblem is cast into the radiator tank top or is a separate emblem.

The oval shaped Armleder radiator emblem is seen in other Armleder advertisements in 1918, 1920 and 1931 and on surviving Armleder trucks. However, the following photo of a surviving 1919 Armleder truck shows a very different radiator emblem. The radiator appears to show the "Armleder" name either cast or impressed into the aluminum radiator tank top.

The following is another example of an Armleder radiator emblem that does not follow the traditional oval shape of other Armleder radiator emblems. This is a separate cast Aluminum radiator emblem and is rare.

Other Armleder radiator emblems are oval shaped as shown in earlier examples above. The following is a cast metal Armleder radiator emblem, which may have been painted originally. This Armleder radiator emblem is believed to date from around 1918-1919 but I cannot confirm this. This Armleder radiator emblem is very rare.

The Armleder radiator emblem was a separate, painted cast metal oval shaped emblem from about 1920, see example shown below from a 1-1/2-ton Armleder dump truck. This Armleder radiator emblem is rare.

The following 1922 Armleder Model 30 1-1/2-ton dump truck appears to carry the Armleder radiator emblem shown above and also displays a large oval shaped "Armleder" nameplate emblem mounted on the step plate.

Some Armleder trucks also displayed the "Armleder" name on oval shaped body side nameplates mounted under the entrance to the driver's cabin, see example in the Armleder truck photo on the following advertisement from 1920. This may be the same emblem as the step plate shown above.

There was a new oval shaped Armleder radiator emblem from about 1930. This is the red and white enamel Armleder radiator emblem shown above at the top of this post and again below. This Armleder radiator emblem is very rare.
