BETZ

Betz Motor Truck Co. (1919-1929)
Hammond, Indiana

This is a Betz nameplate (c1920)     mjs
Size: 200mm wide 75mm high    MM: None

The first Betz in 1919 was a 2-1/2-ton capacity truck and a 1-ton model was added in 1924, all of which used Buda four-cylinder engines. Some 1 to 1-1/2-ton capacity six-cylinder trucks were also made in the last four years of the Betz.

Emblem

I have been unable to find any photos of Betz trucks but the following blueprint of a 2-1/2-ton Betz truck from 1920, shows a rectangular Betz nameplate displayed on the side of the driver's cab:

This is the black painted aluminum Betz nameplate shown above at the top of this post. This Betz nameplate may have also been used as a radiator emblem but I cannot confirm this. This Betz nameplate is very rare.

If you have details of any other Betz emblems or nameplates, please let me know, in order to update this post.
