KANSAS CITY

Kansas City Motor Car Co. (1906-1908)

Wonder Motor Car Co. (1909)

Kansas City, Missouri

This is a Kansas City Car maker's nameplate (1906-1908)     mjs
Size: 102mm wide 51mm high

The Kansas City Car was introduced in 1906 as a 20 hp two-cylinder runabout, a 25 hp two-cylinder touring and a 25 hp four-cylinder touring. These were followed in 1907 by two much larger four-cylinder touring cars, a 55/60 hp and a 75 hp version.

But all was not well and the company was in receivership in December 1907. In late June 1908 the company was reorganized and announced the production of a completely different Kansas City Car. This time it was an 18 hp four-cylinder motor buggy.

The company was reorganized again in 1909 as the Wonder Motor Car Company for the marketing of a 16 hp two-cylinder car called the Kansas City Wonder but that effort failed also and it was all over by the end of 1909.

Emblem

The Kansas City Car did not carry a radiator emblem but did display a maker's nameplate with the Kansas City Motor Car Company logo attached to the dashboard, see example shown above at the top of this post. This Kansas City Car maker's nameplate is rare.

I have not seen an emblem for the Kansas City Wonder. I you have any details about such an emblem, please let me know in order to update this post.
