The Atlas truck was built by the Martin Carriage Works after Milton Martin passed away in 1916 and was a direct successor to the Martin truck.

The first Atlas truck in 1916 was a 19.6 hp four-cylinder 3/4-ton delivery vehicle, which sold well. A new 1-ton truck was introduced in 1920 and a 2-ton truck in 1922, when the 3/4-ton delivery vehicle was dropped. The Atlas Motor Truck Company merged with Selden later in 1922 and Atlas trucks continued to be built in Rochester, New York until 1923.

Emblem

Early Atlas advertisements do not show a radiator emblem but the "Atlas" name is seen displayed on the hood sides, most likely using stencils, see example shown below:

These Atlas advertisements also show Atlas truck logos, see examples shown below:

It is possible that Atlas truck emblems based on these logos were adopted but I can find no evidence of this.

The following  Atlas truck advertisement from 1920 shows an Atlas logo and various Atlas truck models, which display rectangular radiator emblems:

The rectangular Atlas truck radiator emblems shown in this advertisement is believed to have reflected the Atlas truck logo also shown in the advertisement, as shown above, but I cannot confirm this. This Atlas radiator emblem, if it could be found would be extremely rare.

The Atlas truck logo changed later in 1920 from the earlier globe design to a triangular design featuring Atlas carrying the world over his shoulders and a new rectangular radiator emblem including the new logo was introduced. This is the rectangular metal radiator emblem shown below. This Atlas radiator emblem is very rare.

The Atlas radiator emblem was changed to the triangular shaped logo seen in the rectangular Atlas radiator emblem shown above, probably at the time of the merger with Selden in 1922, although I cannot confirm this. This is the white, blue and gold enamel radiator emblem shown above at the top of this post and again below. This Atlas radiator emblem is rare.

Emblem collectors should beware, as there are reproduction Atlas radiator emblems. These reproduction Atlas radiator emblems are crude and do not show the in depth detail of the original emblem, see example shown below:
