The Driggs-Seabury Ordnance Corporation was a manufacturer of weapons but also built some automobiles and commercial vehicles under their own brands or under license for other companies.

Driggs-Seabury began building their Vulcan truck in 1912 and introduced some new heavy duty models at the New York Truck Show in January 1913.

The Vulcan had a four-cylinder engine, chain drive and a heavy pressed steel frame and was available in five models in 1913 from 3-ton to 7-ton capacity. The Vulcan range increased to six models, 2-ton, 3-ton, 4-ton, 4-1/2-ton, 5-ton and 7-ton capacity but was reduced to three models from 2-ton to 5-ton capacity in mid-1915 as Driggs-Seabury became engaged in war work for the government. The Vulcan truck was discontinued in late 1916.

Emblems

There are several original photos of Vulcan trucks mainly found in Vulcan truck advertisements but very few clearly show radiator emblems or nameplates, see example shown below:

However, the following advertisement shows a clear photo of an early Vulcan 4-ton truck with a ribbed radiator carrying a painted metal radiator emblem but no sign of a hood or body side nameplate:

The Vulcan emblem shown above at the top of this post and again below is more rectangular but is believed to be a Vulcan radiator emblem, which may have also been used as a body side nameplate on some models. This Vulcan emblem is very rare.
